The "street cred" that frustrates city police

"Don't Snitch".  This is what keeps many victims from identifying their attackers.  Witnesses to crimes are reluctant to get involved for many reasons.  Think about your own view of serving as a witness.  Is it still our civic duty to do so?   

This subject is explored in my crime novel "Metro-Line to Murder", but only from one couple's point of view.  I"m not even sure what my stance is.  I think a lot would depend on the circumstances of the crime: lighting, fear of retribution, near-sightednes.
